I wanna sing my song

A set of short films we produced traveling around Mozambique, listening to musicians and filming with them. In this road movie documentary, music is the language that people use to express the joy, worries and complex problems of daily life in postcolonial Mozambique.

LUM

A documentary film, set in northern Uganda. It explores the wilderniss that surrounds people in their village. And those beings that live in it: Wild animals, spirits, and in the past, rebels. The film is currently in post production.

Danube Sounds

A small group of musicians and film-makers travels along the Donau, towards the east. They get as far as the Black Sea, and on the way they look for musicians who will play and record with them. The film material reflects the diversity of people and music along the river. It tells stories of chance meetings on the journey. A film about the music along the river that traverses Europe.

What does it mean to have a home? Peter lives in a garden shed on the outskirts of Zehlendorf, a wealthy area of Berlin. Here, he grew up, he married, he had three children – until one day everything changed. Now he collects bags with garden waste and for the money he gets he buys himself a beer. Zehlendorf is still his place, and that it will remain. A film about Heimat.

A set of shortfilms portraying the legendary DJ Marcelle from Amsterdam.

Meine Oma in Schlesien

Ruth is 95 years old. She dreams of going back one last time to her former home - Silesia in Poland. With her granddaughter Clara she packs her little car and the two women embark on a road trip crossing Germany and into Poland. A lot of humour and joy is released when the two women travel to a place that reminds Ruth of her dramatic, and sometimes painful past.
